If you're in the New York area next Tuesday, April 19, I hope you'll consider joining me for a workshop on tongue anatomy and coordination.
The tongue is an incredibly strong and versatile muscle. For singers, a well-coordinated tongue is essential for clear, nuanced diction and optimal resonance.
Many things can develop chronic tongue tension, including:
- Habitual patterns of speech
- Faulty vocal technique
- Swallowing or eating disorders
In this 90-minute workshop, I will cover basic tongue anatomy and discuss the role of the tongue in singing technique. I will also teach a series of exercises to identify and relieve tongue tension and develop excellent coordination. This workshop is being offered without consideration for any particular approach to vocal technique, so all singers and voice teachers will be able to benefit.
The workshop will be limited to 30 participants.
